What is a URL slug?
A slug is the readable part of a URL that identifies a page, such as the 'text-to-slug' in this page's address. A good slug is lowercase, uses hyphens instead of spaces, and contains only ASCII letters, digits and separators.
This converter produces slugs from titles and headings and keeps one result per input line, which makes it easy to prepare a batch of blog URLs.
How to create a URL slug
- Paste one title per line, or a single heading.
- Choose a hyphen or underscore separator.
- Turn on Strict to strip accented characters down to ASCII.
- Press Generate slugs, then copy the results.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes, with no account and no usage limit.
Does it upload my titles?
No. The conversion runs in your browser.
Should I use hyphens or underscores in a slug?
Hyphens are the common choice for web URLs and are what Google recommends for separating words.
What does Strict do?
Strict removes characters outside ASCII, so accented letters and emoji are dropped instead of transliterated.
Can it convert Chinese titles?
Yes, but the result may be empty because Chinese characters are not ASCII. Keep Strict off or add a Latin translation if you need a readable slug.
