Pressure
- 1 atm = 101325 Pa
- 1 bar = 100000 Pa = 1000 mbar = 100 kPa
- 1 psi ≈ 6894.757 Pa
- 1 mmHg ≈ 133.322 Pa
What is a pressure converter?
A pressure converter translates a force-per-area measurement between pascals, bars, PSI, atmospheres and millimetres of mercury. Pressure units are defined against each other, so the conversions are exact.
It is used for tyre inflation, hydraulic systems, weather reports, scuba planning and any datasheet quoting pressure in a unit your gauge does not use.
How to convert a pressure
- Enter the pressure value.
- Select the source unit — bar, PSI, pascal, atm or mmHg.
- Select the target unit.
- Read the result, which recalculates as you type.
- Check against a known value: 1 bar ≈ 14.5038 PSI.

Pressure conversion FAQ
How many PSI is one bar?
One bar is about 14.5038 PSI, and one PSI is 0.0689476 bar.
What is standard atmospheric pressure?
Exactly 101,325 Pa, equal to 1.01325 bar, 14.6959 PSI or 760 mmHg.
Why do tyres use PSI while weather uses millibar?
Tyre gauges inherited PSI from US practice, while meteorology adopted the millibar (hectopascal) because the numbers are convenient.
Is mmHg the same as torr?
They are equal to within one part in seven million; the torr is defined as exactly 1/760 atm.
What tyre pressure should I use?
Follow the vehicle placard, typically 30–36 PSI for passenger cars — it is listed in the driver door jamb.
