What is a WebP to PNG converter?
A WebP to PNG converter rewrites a WebP image as a PNG file, the lossless format every editor, design tool, print pipeline and upload form accepts. WebP was introduced by Google in 2010 to make web pages lighter, and browsers handle it well, but desktop software, CMS upload forms and older Office versions often still refuse it. Converting to PNG is the quickest way to make that file usable again.
Both formats carry an alpha channel, so transparent areas survive the conversion untouched. The difference is compression: WebP is usually lossy, PNG is always lossless. The PNG therefore comes out pixel-exact and normally larger than the WebP it came from.
Nothing is uploaded to a server. The file is decoded and re-encoded in your browser with the Canvas API, so internal screenshots, customer artwork and unpublished designs never leave your device. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert in a session.
Need a smaller file more than a lossless one? The WebP to JPG converter drops the alpha channel and produces a far lighter result. If a PNG is too heavy to use, run it through the image compressor, and to go the other way, the PNG to WebP converter shrinks a PNG for the web.
How to convert WebP to PNG
- Drop your WebP files onto the upload area, or click to browse. The picker accepts several files at once, so a whole folder of .webp images can be queued in one step.
- Check the queue: every entry shows the file name, its original size and PNG as the output format.
- Conversion starts automatically after you select your images.
- Download an image and open it to inspect the result, including any transparent areas.
- Read the size report. PNG is lossless, so the output is normally larger than the WebP you started with — that is expected, not an error.
- Download the files one by one, or use Download all to save the whole batch in one click.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert WebP to PNG?
Drop the WebP files onto the upload area above and press Convert. Every file in the queue is decoded and rewritten as a lossless PNG, and you can download the results individually or all at once.
Why won't my WebP file open?
WebP is supported by current browsers but not by every desktop application, printer driver or upload form. If the file opens in Chrome but not in your editor, the format is the problem, and converting it to PNG fixes it.
Does transparency survive the conversion?
Yes. Both WebP and PNG support an alpha channel, so transparent pixels stay transparent. PNG is the safer of the two here, because it is always lossless and cannot soften an edge.
Why is the PNG file larger than the WebP?
PNG stores every pixel losslessly, while WebP normally discards detail the eye is unlikely to miss. Expect photos to grow several times larger; screenshots and flat graphics grow far less, sometimes barely at all.
Can I convert several WebP files at once?
Yes. The upload area accepts multiple files and the queue converts them in a single run, so a folder of WebP images becomes PNG in one batch. Download all saves the whole set in one click.
Is this WebP to PNG converter free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser with the Canvas API, so the images never leave your device. It also keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
